Do you know that you could get thawab (reward) and get maghfirah (forgivness) for your sins every time you go through a hardship or hard time? How?
When I say hardship or Musiba I don’t mean only big things…. No…even the small things like:
• When you get a headache.
• When someone mistreats you at work or at home.
• When it’s too hot and you are walking in the Sun and when it’s dusty.
• When it’s too cold.
• When someone dear dies.
• When someone gossips about you.
• When someone takes your money or does unjust to you.
• Even if its teeny tiny needle or thorn that pricks you.
Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”
But there are degrees to how much Maghfirah and thawab you can get!! ……How?

People are divided into three categories when it comes to Allah’s tests and hardships:
1. A group that does not gain any thawab or any maghfirah.
2. A group that gains maghfirah but no thawab.
3. A group that gains both maghfirah and thawab.

The first group:
Are the ones who become discontent and angry when Allah tests them! The prophet PBUH said: “If Allah Loves people, He tests them.” Reported by at-Tirmidhi
When you get angry and discontent, what you are gaining?!!! Will that make your money come back or will it bring back your health? Or will it bring back your loved one?
You will gain nothing from this….but you will lose a lot. In the end you will have to

be patient because you have no choice so why get angry and discontent from the beginning!!? Be smart and avoid this.
The prophet PBUH passed by the graves and saw a lady screaming and crying, he said to her: Be patient. She turned around and told him: leave me alone, what happened to me did not happen to you? People told her, this is the prophet of Allah how could you answer him like that!!? She later went to the prophet’s house and told him: I did not recognize who you are!! He responded PBUH: Patience is from the first shock!.

The second group:
Is the one that becomes patient but without expecting any ajr or thawab. He/She is just being patient not for the sake of Allah. This group gets maghfirah but no thawab.

The third group:
Is the one that counts and looks forward to getting thawab and ajr from being patient. He/She knows in his/her heart that they are patient for the sake of Allah. This is the winner group, because they get both Maghfirah and thawab.

Hardships are two types:
1. Hardships from Allah SWT e.g. sickness and death.
With these hardships you have to be patient for the sake of Allah and hope for the maghfirah and thawab.
2. Hardships from people e.g. injustice or someone mistreated you or someone lied to you and took your money..etc.
These hardships have an extra advantage to them!! What is it? Forgiveness
If you forgive you will rest, no matter how hard it is and you will get more ajr and thawab. You will tell me: you don’t know what they did to me!?….. It was really bad and I suffered a lot… I will tell you: the worse the injustice the more the ajr. Allah SWT said: فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ (but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah) Surat Al Shuraa 40
So you can imagine if Allah is the one to pay you back, what more do you need?
Do it and forgive for the sake of Allah. Allah SWT is Kareem and generous more than you, when he sees that you forgave, he will give you more Insha Allah.
